Isaiah 14:27
"For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart Him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?"
The hand is a symbol of love and discipline. Most of the times we want the one without the other.
There is an amazing confidence that stems from resting in God's hands. Confidence not in ourselves, but in the character of the one (God) whose hands we are resting in. A peace that comes from realizing that our salvation, and even our existence, ultimately relies on the powerful and merciful hands of God. That doesn't absolve us of our responsibility regarding our actions and attitudes, but it does point us to the one person who did completely rely on the Father's hands.
Luke 23:26. "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."
With His last breath and words, Jesus rests in the hands of the Father.
Isn't that what God wants from each one of us; to rest in the hands of the Father with every breath as if it was our last breath. Because in the Father's hands is the safest place to be.
John 10:29 "My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand."
The only sure place,
the only safe place,
the only saving place,
Is in the hands of God.
I would much rather depend on His hands than mine own.
